Alex Carver is co owner of Northern Timbers Construction in Middlebury VT. He has been in the building trades full time since 1985 after college. His earliest work was with companies who were doing their best to work toward energy efficient building. Since then he has built many houses with several companies before starting Northern Timbers in 2004. From 2004 until now he and his partner have been fortunate to have been the builders of 7 projects which have received both AIA Vermont and AIA New England Awards one of which was a LEED Certified home. In 2013 Alex built a house designed and overseen by Passive House builder Chris Corson of Belfast Maine. This was the beginning of a focus on High Performance building. Since 2013 Alex and his company have built several High Performance homes each year. During this time Alex was named builder of the year by Efficiency Vermont for his work on promoting the program and doing what he could to educate those around him. He and his partner strive hard to keep costs in line during the construction process while still delivering a great house which performs well.
