Over 70 people joined NESEA on this Pro Tour of the first Passive House in Wayland!

The tour of this 2,500 square foot home was led by hosts Mike Dutra and Nicholas Falkoff from Auburndale Builders, Michael Hindle, CPHC, and Donald Grose, the project designer. The tour concluded with a reception, and a presentation entitled "Going Foam-Free in Passive Construction." 

CEUs: 2.5 AIA LU/HSW, 2.5 GBCI, and certificates of participation were available

Project Details:

  • The existing house was deconstructed piece by piece and the materials sold for re-use

  • The new home will be powered by PV and generate more energy than it uses

  • The home will be certified through PHIUS to meet the Passive standard

  • The insulation of the house is an entirely foam-free enclosure

  • The rainwater from the house will be harvested and used for irrigation

  • The house has been designed to be accessible for the clients as they age in place
