Scaling Low Carbon Market Transformation for Building Products

Operational carbon is challenging but attacking embodied carbon is a complete nightmare! How can firms streamline the deadly research drain and get compliance across all teams for low carbon, healthy material choices? Owners, how can you set and ensure compliance with your standards when onboarding design teams? Builders, how can you leverage your buying power to accelerate market transformation through aggregation without having to change any behavior? This session addresses behavior change & process, and introduces a free new tool to streamline all of these actions and remove barriers to scale massive change. Please bring a laptop or tablet.

Learning Objectives:

  • Navigate the dynamics of a circular economy, including our embedded waste exchange and the levers associated with creating scale changes. Identify how your stakeholder group can best contribute to scaling this change.
  • Practice using a new free platform to set up material tracking tools with "Spotify-type" playlists of themed product lists like: low-carbon, Passive House, biomimicry, innovative new tech, alternative (hemp, rice, mushroom). Additionally, utilize aggregation to drive not-yet-green products to change their compositions and turn green.
  • Utilize the Common Materials Framework to support the creation of consistent adoption of holistically healthy materials implementation for different product classes within your practice. Practice improved climate health, human health, ecosystem health, social health and equity and circularity with this framework.
  • Determine which data and metrics you need to track and analyze within your practice for feedback loops to continue your company's transformation over time.
