Are you ready to work with great clients, build unique projects, and advance your building science and green building knowledge?
Are you an experienced, conscientious, goal-oriented carpenter with your eye on delivering the highest quality work, on budget?
Are you tired of working alone and ready to join a collaborative team?
We’re hiring frame-to-finish Carpenters with 5+ years of experience in the trades and all the usual tools. We are currently looking to fill openings on our crew starting in August 2023, and have year-round work contracted into 2025. We offer excellent pay and benefits, including health insurance, retirement, and generous paid time off.
Juniper Design + Build is an award-winning residential design/build company working in Portland, Maine, and its surrounding communities. We create beautiful, energy-efficient, sustainably-built custom homes and renovations.
We do things differently
For starters, we're majority women-owned and managed. As much as we admire people with mad skills, we don't hire for skills alone. We have a diverse, respectful, and positive work culture—and a fantastic team—and we're looking for people who really understand the value of that and want to be part of it.
We're invested in helping to move the building industry to more environmentally sustainable practices. We focus on high-performance building and carbon reduction. We're all in on building science and strive to use optimal techniques and materials. We're always learning. You will be too.
What we offer
Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. All employees receive paid vacations, holidays, health insurance, a retirement contribution, a tool allowance, and professional education. And we all appreciate having a healthy work/life balance. This is a full-time job, not a 1099 position.
What we ask
You should be a good communicator, comfortable working collaboratively and committed to treating everyone in the company and our customers with respect. And no matter your role, you're expected to be organized, detail-oriented, and proactively solve problems. Our office is based in Peaks Island, Maine, a 15-minute ferry ride from downtown Portland, and you must be able to travel to job sites in the greater Portland area.
We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer
We recruit, employ, train, compensate, and promote regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law. People of color, trans and gender-nonconforming people, people from poor and working-class backgrounds, people in the LGBTQ+ community, and women are encouraged to apply.
