Sustainability Engineer

Key Responsibilities

For Our Clients

  • Use your understanding of client needs, on-site observations and evolving technologies to devise building envelope, efficiency and decarbonization recommendations.
  • Provide and/or oversee subcontractors for building load, energy model, and other evaluation testing needs.
  • Serve as owner’s agent from initial concept through RFP development, bidding, installation and commissioning.
  • Facilitate cross-functional relationships with clients, outside vendors and incentive program providers.
  • Create reports that clearly and concisely convey findings and recommendations.

For RPM

  • Combine traditional engineering thinking with creative approaches to decarbonize existing buildings.
  • Devise and manage projects and budgets, keeping the CEO abreast of status and issues.
  • Manage subcontracted engineering services.
  • Proactively develop process improvements and efficiencies without sacrificing data integrity and internal control compliance.
  • Continuously develop your knowledge in new technologies and procedures, utility incentives, software opportunities, government grants and programs, etc.
  • Identify team learning opportunities and provide support.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in engineering, architecture or other related technical fields
  • Familiarity with Passive House and/or other building certifications
  • Five+ years experience
  • CEM preferred but not required
  • Desire to take on new challenges and learn new technologies
  • Ability to think outside the box
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Outstanding collaboration, communication and customer skills
  • Attention to detail and follow-up are essential
  • Ability to travel locally as needed

Familiarity with the following

  • HVAC systems and controls
  • Building automation and control systems
  • Power quality, service and reliability improvements
  • Building science and envelope construction best practices
  • Resilience planning
  • Utility rate structures and efficiency programs in the New England region
  • Solar PV, solar thermal, wind, CHP other on-site generation technologies
