The Tour de Sol Philadelphia steering committee is rolling out the red carpet. This special festival has a theme of green electricity, renewable energy, and green transportation technologies and options.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS:

With over 50 exhibits, the Tour de Sol has something for everyone! Come learn about new technologies that can reduce our dependence on foreign oil and reduce our green house gas emissions.

- Food and entertainment including bicycle powered music, Climate Action Theatre, and much more!
- Take a spin with the newest and coolest cars and bikes. See the on-road debut of Honda’s Civic Hybrid. Test-drives new hybrid-electric vehicles built by Honda and Toyota. Talk with enthusiastic hybrid vehicle owners about their experience with their gas-sipping cars.
- Learn about prototype fuel cell and hybrid cars from DaimlerChrylser. Reps will be on hand to answer technical questions about these vehicles and their electric neighborhood vehicles.
- Visit exhibits offering green electricity, and renewable energy products for your home and work.

Visit with Pennsylvania's "home teams". West Philadelphia High School (above) is participating in the Tour de Sol road rally competition for the third year running.

- Talk with over 200 students, and dozens of visionaries about their experience of building two-dozen one-of-a-kind vehicles that are competing in the Tour de Sol road-rally championship. These vehicles include battery-electric cars, hybrid cars, solar assisted cars, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and one-person motorcycles and personal commuter vehicles.
- Fun stuff for kids – guided tours of the vehicles, special workshop on global warming and transportation offered by the EPA, interactive displays, scavenger hunt, bicycle stuff and more.
- Learn about pedestrian safety with Philly Walks. They will be educating students about the health benefits of walking.
- Talk with bicycle advocate organizations like the Bicycle Coalition of the Delaware Valley. They have been actively engaging SEPTA on putting bicycle racks on their buses.
Business Briefing on Green Electricity Choice: Thursday, May 16. 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
The Mid Atlantic Renewable Energy Coalition (MAREC) and Green-e in partnership with the US Environmental Protection Agency will offer a workshop on green electricity choice for area business people. To find out more contact Brenna Herpman or call 215-569-9692.
