The Philadelphia Tour de Sol steering committee is awesome! Check back for exhibitor and celebrity updates. You will find a complete list of partners at the end of this page.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Over 65 Exhibits, food for sale by Kind Cafe, Cosmic Catering, and Chilly Philly Ice Cream, solar powered music and much more!
  • Take a spin with the newest and coolest "green" cars, buses and bikes. Buy an electric bicycle or scooter from Jay’s Pedal Power Bikes or an electric utility vehicle from Kronosport. If electric isn’t what you’re looking for then buy a traditional bike from Bicycle Therapy!
  • Test-drive hybrid vehicles built by Toyota and Honda, and Honda’s natural gas car. Check out Allison Transmission’s clean hybrid buses, a natural gas school bus, and try out the eGO XR built by eGo Vehicles with a battery by Modular Energy Devices.
  • See and learn about the Hy-wire, the world’s first drivable concept vehicle that combines a hydrogen fuel cell with by-wire technology. General Motors’ reps will be on hand to answer questions about this vehicle.
  • Explore new transportation options such as DaimlerChrylser’s GEM, an electric neighborhood vehicle.
  • Talk with some of the 200 students, dozens of visionaries, and two battery manufacturers about their experience of building a one-of-a-kind vehicle to compete in the Tour de Sol championship. These vehicles include hybrid and alternative fueled cars using biodiesel, ethanol, natural gas, or propane; electric cars; solar assisted electric cars; and one-person motorcycles and personal commuter vehicles.
  • Visit exhibits promoting or selling green electricity, solar, and renewable energy products for your home and work. You will be able to buy products from Astropower, Atlantic Solar Products, Community Energy, Inc. / NEW WIND ENERGY, The Energy Cooperative, and The Energy Coordinating Agency.
  • Watch hydrogen be made from the sun, and learn about the U.S. Department of Energy’s plans on how to move the nation toward a hydrogen economy.
  • Fun stuff for kids – guided tours of the vehicles, toys for play, scavenger hunt, and student workshops offered by the EPA Region III and Neighborhood Bike Works.
  • Talk with bicycle advocate organizations like Neighborhood Bike Works. They are actively engaging the Philadelphia Public School system in promoting the benefits of bicycling and empowering kids by teaching them how to rebuild bicycles.
  • Learn about programs in your area that work toward a greener transportation system and a better quality of life such as Philly Walks’ pedestrian programs, the Ozone Action Partnership and much more.
