Advanced Vehicles on the Market



Hybrid Fun Rally

Purpose – To increase market demand and use of advanced vehicles, which can help us reduce our dependence on foreign oil, while reducing the environmental impact of transportation.  The 2005 Tour de Sol will offer a fun event for people who have advanced vehicles, such as hybrids, to elevate the awareness of advanced vehicle technology, educate the public about currently available advanced vehicles, and to demonstrate the benefits and availability of sustainable energy transportation alternatives, and educate the public on emerging vehicle technology.

Self paced Fun Rally - Entrants will travel to Saratoga Springs, NY at their own pace, starting when ever they want. You can start at a Starting Site or at home, your choice. It is more fun to visit a starting site, of course, and see the local Monte Carlo entrants!.

The Hybrid Fun Rally events and activities are part of Saratoga’s Spring Auto Show on Sat. May 14 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center Park in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Starting sites – All over the USA. Go to www.auto-careers.org and click on Tour de Sol.

When to show up – Entrants should arrive in Saratoga between 9 -10 am on Saturday May 14. Go to the Saratoga Auto Museum, at SPAC State Park, Saratoga Springs, NY (30 mi. north of Albany). Look for signs.  If you arrive by 9AM you can display your vehicle and be eligible for certain awards, and receive a dashboard plaque.

Route – your choice – Any route that gets you to Saratoga, NY by noon on Sat. May 14.

Rules - All entries must be licensed and insured and have valid state vehicle inspection. All entrants should pre-registered with NESEA (walk-ins will be accepted). You need not drive a hybrid car or alternative fuel car. If you drive a Hummer and want to learn more about the environment and car, you are welcome. You just need to pay $50 registration.

Display Your Car  - If room allows your hybrid car (No Hummers or SUV’s here though) will be on display in the Auto Show Tour de Sol parking lot – Free Parking.

Registration Fee $50 - Includes 1 magnetic sign for your car (stick- ons for Insights), with event name, Free entry to Auto Show for 2 people, display in Saratoga Auto Show Parking lot,  Discount card with local merchants, refreshments on Saturday, Dashboard Plaque, lot’s of fun and new friends, and a chance to win one of 6 Awards! Optional events include our press events, mini-seminars and watching other Tour de Sol events, such as an autocross, and hill climb, in Saratoga and final display and Awards event in Albany.  [Note – MonteCarlo 100mpg Challenge registration is $95, and Full Registration in all Tour events and competition is $350].  Please join us for an exciting and FUN Weekend!
