Better Steam Heat: Generating Steam System Upgrades in New York City

Thursday, October 12, 2017
3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Steam heating systems serve thousands of buildings in NYC, and many of them are not operating at their potential. This session will dive into basic steam heat maintenance tasks that can be performed to improve the operation of the system and the comfort of the tenants. We will hear from an engineer who specializes in diagnosing and retro-commissioning steam systems, a manager of NYC’s Retrofit Accelerator who is developing programs to assist with improving the energy efficiency of NYC’s buildings, and a co-op board member who has implemented steam retrofits into their building and will describe the causes and effects making these improvements.
