NESEA Events at the Greenfield Energy Park

Each year, a series of activities are held to celebrate different aspects of energy and the environment. Among them:

Classic Day in Greenfield, May 19, 2001.

The theme for 2001 is “Transportation Innovations: Changing our Communities and Changing Our Lives.”  The dedication of the 1944 Caboose Museum and new public art will be the highlights of the festival. The museum is funded in part through a grant from the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities which receives support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. This year's celebration will include an antique bicycle display, featuring 6 High-wheelers in uniform, papier-mâché animals by Lynda Hosdson and a classic car show as well as live music, craft vendors, food and children’s games all contributing to produce Energy in the Park!

Public Art

Christine Diani displays several of the 50 custom-made tiles she created to identify trees and shrubs at the Park’s Arboretum.

Katie Winship, tile artist and Tom Sullivan, installer, combine beauty and function at the new artisan’s staircase at the South Gate to the Park. Katie created a series of tiles the colors of the rainbow to draw the eye up into the Park.

Spring, 2001, the staircase will feature a stained-glass window in a sunburst design (covered by protective Plexiglas) by Deb Nicholson and a permanent metal welcome sign by Gregory Curci.
