Business description: Conceive and design zero emission clean energy systems for residential and commercial buildings and transportation systems.
How do you define sustainability?
When the energy being consumed to do work is completely replaced via an ecologically balanced process.
What project are you most proud of?
Installing a photovoltaic powered weighing system in a bald eagle's nest to power a perch scale to measure the health of eaglets. This allowed Fish and Wildlife experts to determine if the birds were gaining or losing weight and they could treat them with medicine accordingly. This system was instrumental in bringing the bald eagle back to the Quabbin Reservoir in central Massachusetts.
What energy advice do you have for the new president?
Make the Cape Wind Project happen now so we can start the process of replacing oil based power with wind based power in the urban megalopolis on the east coast.
What promising technology would you like to know more about?
Ultracapacitors that can have the power and energy density to compete with lithium ion batteries for transportation applications.
What's the public's biggest misunderstanding regarding sustainable energy systems?
If you ask the average person on the street where they think electricity comes from, the answer will in many cases be, "From the plug in my wall." This is not necessarily a misunderstanding, but it is lack of understanding.
What prompted you to join NESEA?
The Tour de Sol.
What's the most irritating example of "greenwashing" you can think of?
The Big Three CEOs driving to Washington, DC in hybrid vehicles with tin cups strapped to their wrists.
