Build a Model Solar Car Educator Workshop, Washington, DC
Gain hands-on experience on applications in solar energy by building a model solar car! The Potomac Regional Solar Energy Association, in collaboration with the Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington D.C., is facilitating a free model solar car workshop on Saturday, March 20 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Potomac Overlook Regional Park in Arlington, VA (NOTE LOCATION CHANGE from Prince George Community College). This educator workshop is designed to prepare teachers and non-formal educators in leading middle school kids through Junior Solar Sprint, a highly engaging and successful program where kids design, build and compete with model solar electric cars. Your young engineers will deepen their understanding about solar energy, math, physical science and craftsmanship. Teams can enter their cars in local design and race competitions with top winners invited to the annual Northeast Championship coordinated by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA). At the workshop you will receive:
- A basic parts model solar car kit and hands-on building practice
- JSS educator resources including lesson plans and area event information
- A chance at a model car solar panel door prize!
You'll have opportunity to understand the curriculum, build your own car and we'll discuss how we hope to be able to assist with funds to help you and your students get started!
This workshop is FREE - - and lunch is provided!!!!!!
