About the Green Car Club
Read the Green Car Club mission statement.
Learn about the people behind this website.
As long as there have been cars, there have been car clubs. Centered on specific makes or types of vehicles, these clubs have offered members a sense of community. The Green Car Club aims to provide that same sense of community to owners and supporters of environmentally friendly cars.
Club members have a common interest in cars that incorporate the latest technology to lessen pollution and increase energy independence (battery electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, alternate fuel vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles). The Green Car Club offers members the opportunity to express their interest and interact with each other through:
- Web-based discussion groups
- The latest news in green car development
- Performance data exchange, driving tips, new car reviews
- Meeting at club-sponsored events
- Having a voice in support of positive policies
- Access to the resources of related organizations
The club website is the main focus and organizing tool for the club. Through it, club members can share their experiences and find answers to questions about their vehicles. The website also provides an independent source of information on green cars, equipment, fuel, and the companies that supply them. Potential purchasers of green cars can go to the site to ask questions of existing owners of green vehicles.
The Green Car Club was officially launched in December 2002 by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, a leading membership organization focused on promoting the understanding, development, and adoption of energy conservation and non-polluting renewable energy technologies.
