What do GBOH organizers do?
If you sign up as an organizer, these are the things you’ll be responsible for:
Work with NESEA staff
- Stay in touch with NESEA’s GBOH coordinator
Wrangle hosts and their sites
- Recruit homes and other buildings in your region to participate in the open house
- Encourage potential hosts to sign up early so we have enough time to do a good job promoting their location
- Coordinate communication with hosts: provide orientation, keep them up-to-date on procedures and deadlines, help them with online registration
- Maintain a list of host sites and contact information and report new additions to NESEA’s GBOH coordinator, making special note of where materials should be shipped
- Coordinate distribution of NESEA materials to the host sites
Promote your area’s sites
- Help promote host sites and coordinate publicity (see Organizer Resources)
- Generate local publicity for the sites in your area: make contacts with press, post flyers, submit online calendar listings, and anything else you can think of for the sites in your area (see Organizer Resources)
