Main Presentation: Sustainable Urbanism
More
than half the world's population now lives in major cities, and this
trend is continuing with the on-going growth of our urban centers into
mega-cities. Our planet's ecological, economic and social crisis
requires the development of sustainable urbanism. There will only be one
way towards a future in harmony, if we are prepared to change our
lifestyles - based on a more holistic consciousness. Our cities as the
physical expression of our lifestyle today must transform into
sustainable communities by means of urban ecology. There is an urgent
need for innovative and integrated strategies to create the ecocity of
the future: The European Union's ECOCITY research project, established
in 2000 is one of the primary efforts to develop solutions to this
challenge. Learn more on September 25, 2010!
