Clean Energy

NESEA carries out a wide range of activities to advance renewable energy such as solar, wind, and biomass (plant matter). Some activities, such as the Building Energy conference, take place through our Buildings Program, while others take place through our Transportation and Education Programs. Following are some of our largest activities pertaining to clean energy:

  • NESEA Network: The NESEA Network is NESEA's action alert network. By joining, you will receive action alerts notifying you of ways you can take action to promote sustainable energy. The network also incorporates a training program, designed to help make members more effective advocates. Join today - it's free!
  • Building Energy Conference: Run through our Buildings Program, Building Energy is a professional conference and trade show that brings together experts in the fields of renewable energy and green building.
  • NESEA's Informational Brochures : NESEA's set of 5 informational brochures cover topics such as photovoltaics, solar hot water, the 10 most effective ways to save energy in your home, and how to use our Sustainable Green Page Directory.
  • Green Buildings Open House: Held in conjunction with the American Solar Energy Society's National Solar Tour, the Open House is an annual event in October that enables people to visit homes and other buildings throughout the Northeast that showcase renewable energy and other green building features.
  • Clean Energy for a Clean Environment: Youth can earn patches and/or certificates by learning about clean energy. Special patches are available from NESEA for Girl Scouts for both Clean Energy for a Clean Environment programs, Wind Wisdom, where kids carry out activities to gain an introduction to wind energy, and Clean Green Power, where youth learn about renewable energy through field trips, interviews and activities. Hand-outs of interest to anyone are also available to download from this site as well.
