Request
For Pilot Test Sites For
Fall
Semester, 2000
NESEA
is looking for teachers to pilot test a new high school curriculum on
alternative fueled vehicles. We are looking for teachers in various sized
communities, two each of large, intermediate, and small size. The curriculum
will guide students as they research and then graphically display the roles
various alternative vehicles may assume in their community in the near
future. It will be designed to meet national standards for technology education
with a focus on how technology and society interact. If interested, please
download an application form,
fill it out and return the form to NESEA.
Inspiration for “Alternative-Fueled Vehicles and the American Community” came from a 1993 U. S. Department of Energy and Edison Electric Institute sponsored planning and design competition named “Electric Vehicles and the American Community.” To view sample winning designs from that competition please see Electric Vehicles and the American Community web site..
With
Alternative-Fueled Vehicles and the American Community students will
research and graphically display the:
•
technological infrastructure,
•
economic,
•
environmental & health impacts, and
• roles
alternative
fueled vehicles may assume in their community in the future.
“Alternative-Fueled Vehicles and the American Community: A High School Curriculum is being developed by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association with a grant from the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) in coordination with the DOE Clean Cities Program.
