Summary
Provide support for the Energy Department by performing design calculations, drafting, field diagnostic and installation services as needed.
Specific Responsibilities
-
Perform heating, cooling, and duct-sizing calculations, and building plan take-offs.

Specify equipment, based on the above work, and produce plans and specifications for bidding and construction.

Perform standard building diagnostic tests and calculations (blower door, fan flow, IR scan, parallel path calculation of
assembly R, etc.).

Perform HERS ratings.

Create MEP, HVAC, and envelope details drawings in Archicad, and revise based on red-lined feedback from colleagues.

Create field notes and design reports using electronic media for easy integration into sales and design process.

Assist with the design installation, service, and maintenance of solar systems.

Perform solar site assessments.

Contribute and be receptive to a collaborative design atmosphere.

Participateindepartmentmeetingsandcontributetodepartmentalneedsandgrowth.

UseSMCstandardinformationtechnologyincludingweb-basedapplications,consistentandtimelyelectronic
communications, consistent and proper electronic record keeping, and cell phone protocol.

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Requirements

Associate’s or Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of training and experience, in energy/conservation engineering, design, and/or analysis.

Excellent data and analytical skills.

Strong writing capabilities.

Substantial computer experience, including skill with Windows and Mac platforms, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Photoshop.

ArchiCad expertise, or strong foundation in other CAD software that could develop into this.

Comfort working both in the field and in the office, and switching back and forth as needed.

Aptitude and comfort working independently in a team environment, providing ideas and open to feedback.
Licensing and Professional Associations
SunPower Advanced Design and Installation Certifications, OSHA 10 Card, NABCEP Certification, HERS Certification (all to be achieved within 1-2 years from date of hire)
Physical Requirements
Comfortable lifting and carrying heavy equipment and materials. Comfortable working in attics, knee walls, basements, crawlspaces. Comfortable with heights. Comfortable working on ladders and on roofs, especially while handling tools and equipment. Comfortable working outside in a range of seasons and weather conditions.
