Speaker Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTIONS

ANSWERS

Do I need to submit my presentation in advance?

NESEA's conference coordinator, Susan Farber, will need your slides (for CEU purposes) but NOT ahead of time. Bring your presentation to the conference on a flash drive.

Can I bring my own laptop?

Lap tops will be provided in each session room. Please be prepared, with a flash drive, to load your session presentation in a timely manner.
What can I expect about the room where I will be presenting? Each session room will be equipped with a podium, microphone, computer, projector and screen.
Can I get a lavalier mic? There are no lavalier mics available for this conference.
Can I get a flip chart? NESEA will have a limited number of easels, flip charts, and markers on hand. Please contact Conference Coordinator, Susan Farber, if you need a flip chart set up.
Will I have access to the Internet? Our standard AV set up DOES NOT include podium access to the Internet.
What about attendee evaluations? We have decided to eliminate paper evaluations. Attendees will be encouraged to download the conference app Guidebook where evaluations will be captured electronically. In addition, the NESEA booth will provide computers for attendees to submit evaluations via Guidebook.
Do you have recommendations for my Powerpoint presentation? We usually find that any font size less than 24 point is too small to be reasonably read in most presentation situations.  The preferred text size is 28 or 32- point size, with titles being 36 to 44-point size.
Do you pay travel expenses? No, we do not. But speaking at BuildingEnergy is great visibility for you and your company.
Will I be able to attend other sessions that I am not speaking at? Speakers at NESEA's BuildingEnergy conferences are issued a complimentary pass for the day.
What about food? A light breakfast, lunch and an afternoon rececption are planned for the event.
Do you expect anything else from me besides showing up to speak? We want your part of BuildingEnergy NYC to be a phenomenal success. So we expect you to participate in a conference call to coordinate your session with the other speakers. We also hope that you will help promote your session, you can find language and images in the Media Kit.
What if I need technical assistance on the day of the conference? Volunteers and staff will be on hand to assist throughout the day. If you need help prior to your session, contact Conference Coordinator, Susan Farber.
