General Information: St. Stephens Episcopal Cathedral is taking a leadership role in environmental efforts as the first church in the United States to register its facilities with the US Green Building Council. Their goals: a LEED Silver Rating, a much needed expansion of their K-8 city school, maintaining the integrity of their historic properties, and standing as a role model for future change in their community. In September, the transformation of the 1920s four-story garage into the school was complete and 190 students returned to modern rooms filled with daylight, heated efficiently and furnished with natural and recycled materials. Further parish renovations are to be completed in October.
