Solar shingles; wood stove; battery bank, controller, inverter; and gas generator
We operate our entire home from this system and have appliances that you would find in a regular home. We have a back-up generator that is used in winter. Our home is located in a glacial hollow so our days are shorter than the average day and our system still works incredibly well! It is a simple home in gorgeous woods - very private with some landscaping. People will see how a home can truly fit into its environment and become one with it.
From Rte 79 between Watkins Glen and Ithaca: In Bennettsberg, NY look for sign for Texas Hollow Road. (you can only turn one way on this road). Go approximately 3 miles. You will see a small, red cabin in a clearing on the left side. You will pass a cable on the left from oa logging operation. Approx. 1/4 mile fter the cable, our driveway is very visible on the left. You will see the back of a ì10 Ton Restrictied Weightî sign at the entrance to our driveway. Our numvers -3250- are on the tree by the driveway and the posted signs will read Hayes & O'Brien. Go approx. 1/2 mile on our driveway until you see the house. From Odessa, NY: Our house is on the right, 2.4 miles from the intersection of the Newton Road. A ì10 Ton Restricted Weightî Sign is at the end of our driveway. We have 3 large dogs. People who are afraid of dogs should either not come or should call in advance. They are people loving dogs, but their size can be overwhelming.
