NESEA has a 13-member board of directors.

Every October, the NESEA membership elects three board members to three-year terms, for a total of nine elected members at any given time. Also annually, the board itself appoints one member to join them for a three-year term—someone who may have a skill set or background that is underrepresented on the board—which brings the total up to 13 at any given time. If a board member can’t finish his or her term for some reason, the rest of the board appoints someone to finish it out.
